aw, screw it

i suck at updating.

i have nothing interesting to say, or share.

Day 10, 11, 12, 13

Just got back from Guilin. 桂林山水甲天下is really true. It’s totally beautiful there. Wet, and rainy, but beautiful.
Uh. Pictures and movie stuff later. I promise. I’m updating the Nanjing post soon.

I apologize for the extreme lack of quality in my recent blogging. I don’t know what’s wrong, but I assure you, the perpetrators will be caught and punished.

And now for something completely different!
It’s really hard to see past the poverty in Guilin. There’s such a depressing dynamic between American tourists eager to spend money, and residents eager to earn money. You walk into the streets, and you’re instantly accosted by a horde of people offering to rent you a bike, to sell you a tour, fruit, or a mishmash of other items.

Stuff can be haggled down to insanely low prices. The price of labor is indeed low. I don’t know where I’m going with this. I haven’t really had a chance to organize my thoughts on the place.
Guilin is a lot like Zhang Ziyi. A lot of natural beauty, but brutally massacred by advertising and such. Oh, the power of the American Tourist.
Anyway. It’s still beautiful. It’s exactly like a Chinese brush painting. You should go.
